2015 Rounds
Back to The POTUS-presumptuous’ Unorthodox Tether-free Tumler Society Golf Rounds

Village Club, Lake Success, Long Island, NY Monday, July 26, 2010

Highlights: Hank and Drew played in favor of the Jewish Children's Museum of Brooklyn at the 4th annual fundraising golf outing. It was the first time the pair enjoyed the services of a professional golf caddy, who was terrific and who made the day a very special golf experience. The format was to use the best drive of the foursome and then each to play their own way to the finish from there on each hole. So, the scores do not reflect the actual score that each golfer would have accomplished on their own. But, it does give an idea of the day. The course was beautiful. The weather was perfect. Drew had 6 bogies and a par, even if they were in some cases aided. Hank was struggling but still had a few moments of brilliance.

Bethpage State Park Golf Course - Blue Golf Course Saturday, November 7, 2009 Highlights: We joined up with Tom L. from Garden City and played Skins just squeezing in the 18 before the sun set around 4:30 PM. .
Bethpage State Park Golf Course - Yellow Golf Course Saturday, October 22, 2009 Highlights: Played the back 9 on the Yellow Course.
Sunken Meadow State Park - Blue Saturday, October 10, 2009 Highlights:
Eisenhower Blue Course, East Meadow, NY Saturday, October 11, 2008 Highlights: The big story of this round was when Don noticed a golfer to the right of and behind Drew's vision, who hit right into them while they were seated in their golf cart. Don warned Drew telling him to look out and Drew ducked while Don turned away. The ball apparently just missed hitting Drew in the head and instead hit Don on his shoulder blade knocking him out of the golf card on to the ground. Don was able to complete the round. He scored a 113 over all while Drew, who had tied Don by the 17th hole, chipped into a trap at the end to loose by 2 strokes.
Eisenhower Blue Course, East Meadow, NY Sunday, September 28, 2008 Highlights: Steve was off his game. Phil was on his game. Don played his game and Drew gave Don a run until he ran out of holes. Don ended wit ha 105 to Drew's 111. Don was driving exceeding well and was making saving shots when needed.
Middle Island Country Club, Middle Island, NY Saturday, September 20, 2008 Highlights: Phil seems to set the pace for everyone. He had to ride solo since Steve had to work, but he caddied for himself and gave himself the best advice, since he was able to go around the revamped Spruce to Dogwood layouts in just 104 strokes. Don and Drew continued their Titanic rivalry with having a slightly better score on a hole-by-hole overview going out over the Spruce 9, and only one hole where he picked up 4 strokes to give him an 8 stroke lead at the turn. Drew kept up the pressure through the 5th hole on Dogwood (the 14th hole of the day) and increased his lead to 13 strokes. Don stopped the bleeding by winning back two strokes each on the 6th and seventh holes. They split the 8th and then Don brought the tally back to 7 stokes by winning the 9th by 2 strokes. Don attributed his slide to his putting and the short game being off. Drew's short game and his putting was very strong seeing him chip one in for the only par of the round on the Spruce 2nd hole and making a few long 20 plus foot put on the Dogwood 3rd, 5th and 6th.
Long Island National Golf Club, Riverhead, NY Sunday, September 14, 2008 Highlights: Whose idea was this any way? Long Island National Golf Club voted by our foursome the course least likely to which we will return to play a round of golf. We go through it. Ugh.
Eisenhower Blue Course, East Meadow, NY Monday, September 1, 2008 Highlights: Labor Day was a beautiful day weather-wise and set the scene for a dramatic golf challenge on two levels. The Cardiac Boys, Steve and Phil against Don and Drew, and the on-going struggle between Don and Drew for who is Arnold Palmer and who is Jack Nicholas. The Cardiac Boys won hands down. The battle between Don and Drew was an up and down one with Drew zooming out to a one stroke lead but which he lost on the very next hole to Don's par. He got even and stayed that way through the 5th hole but one on the 6th and another on the 8th to end the outward 9 down 2 strokes. The back nine again saw Drew fighting to gain ground, which he did on the 111th and a gain on the 13th and yet again on the 17th with his first bogie of the day to trail Don by 2 strokes going into the final hole. The par 5 last hole was Don's undoing. He had his troubles and came in with a quadruple bogie 9, while Drew put together 5 nice shots to get on and one medium length putt to make his second bogie in a row and for the day and for a win against Don by just 1 stroke.
Eisenhower Blue Course, East Meadow, NY Saturday, August 23, 2008 Highlights: The weather was terrific and the playing duo who joined us was a wonderful pair of friends from childhood from the Island of Jamaica who live and work in the Bronx; Ivan an accountant with a hospital and France, a nurse at Beth Israel. They both hit the long ball and helped make the round as enjoyable as it could have been. Early on Don received a phone message about the death of a dear family friend from his youth, which was distressing for him. But, the game went on and the score card speaks for itself. Don managed to get 6 bogies and Drew had 4. There were no pars. Drew's rocky start was hard for him to overcome and left him 7 stokes behind Don at the turn. He just about evened the match by the end of the 15th hole drawing to just one stroke behind Don. But, that was the end of his march to success. He gave up 2 strokes to Don on the 16th and another 3 strokes on the 17th putting him 6 being going into the final hole. They tied with 7 each on the 18th giving Drew a 55 for the back nine and Don a 56 with their totals being Don 108 and Drew 114. It was a battle and tons of fun even in the shadow of Don's distressing news.
Eisenhower Red Course, East Meadow, NY Sunday, August 17, 2008 Highlights: The weather was great and, though there were quite a few golfers who chose to play the Eisenhower Red Course, if anyone slowed our play is was more often us than anyone in front of us. Don and Drew, who had played the Red back on July 12, found it somewhat more difficult to navigate this time, while their playing partners, Phil K. and Steve Z. were somehow much less intimidated by it. Phil was able "negotiate" his way to a 109 for the 18 holes. Steve had a 50 going out with a par 4 on the 8th hole and bogies on the 3rd, 5th, and 9th for a 51 coming in with bogies on the 12th and 13th, for a round total of 101. Drew had bogie on the 2nd, 7th and 9th holes but with his putting a bit off and flubbing several drives, he went out in 57. Don chipped one in to save bogie on the 2nd and bogied again on the 6th and the 9th for an out bound total of 60. Inbound for Drew saw better drives and fairway woods but his putting and chipping were still off and he came in in 62 for a round total of 119. Don got bogie on the 11th and 12th and came in in 58 for a total of 118 edging Drew by one stroke. (Note Please: The score card includes several holes with an "upper" and a "lower" score included. The upper scores are the actual strokes taken and the lower score are the maximum score counted for that hole based on double par. It is our understanding that the idea of recording a maximum score as opposed to the actual strokes taken is an element of determining a golfer's handicap. But, that practice is not supposed to shield a golfer from counting the strokes he actually took to hole out on each hole. In match play or in stroke play, all the strokes count. Only in the computation of a golfer's handicap are "maximum" strokes for a give hole to be computed. In future we will record actual strokes taken an leave the "maximum" of twice par rto be used for computation of handicaps).
Sunken Meadow State Park - Blue Sunday, August 3, 2008 Highlights: Hank wanted a "tune up" just be fore the American Kidney Fund Golf Outing scheduled for the next day, so Drew and joined him for nine holes at Sunken Meadow where they played the Blue Course. They were teamed up with a young couple, Linda and Paul, who were congenial and fairly good player but the foursome suffered greatly from an annoying threesome in front of them who slowed play terribly and were horsing around to further cause an extend round making what could have been a pleasure into a less than enjoyable round. Hank was able to bogy the par 4 5th and 8th holes, but otherwise struggled to control his new clubs and may have over emphasized the upper body part of his swing to where he was feeling first discomfort, then distress and a last outright pain in his arms. He still got a 58, which was a big improvement over past such rounds, so things seem to be looking even while progress is in modest steps forward. Drew started his round with a bogy on the 1st, then another on the 3rd and a final one on the 7th. But, he was at double bogie or worse on the others. He 2-putted 6 of the 9 green and 3-putted the others, which accounted for some of the "bleeding". It was a round where one could certainly practice distraction avoidance methods.
Sunken Meadow State Park - Blue to Red Courses Saturday, July 26, 2008 Highlights: Drew could not find a playing partner and decided to take his chances at Sunken Meadow on his own and got paired up with Richard and Pete from the Huntington area. They drove and Drew walked playing from the Red to the Blue. It took Drew until around the 7th or 8th hole on the Red to learn that he had been walking too fast as he had no way to gauge his pace since the others drove at will and, though they were hitting all over the place, they could run rings around him. So, he was more tired and needed time to calm down before hitting, which he felt was slowing things down. But, as he slowed down his play, his game picked up. He had one very nice hole on the Red; the Per 3 third hole, which he struggled to get on to the green but one-putted for a bogie. His total of 64 strokes with 17 putts on the Red had hidden among the many strokes enough good ones that he felt he was doing fine and the beauty of the course was delightful to see and walk through. The Blue Course was more familiar to him and though his total was still over 50; 55 to be exact with 19 putts, he was playing better to where Richard commented near the end that "you are really getting good at those chip shots". Drew had hit the stick in one attempt form off the green and landed several other very close, which made things come together better. His bogie on the par 5 fourth hole, which is rated the hardest hole on the Blue Course, particularly rewarding and demonstrated to him the type of performance results of which he is becoming more and more capable of delivering. The idea of playing with strangers when ever time permits is easier for him now and will hopefully present him with more opportunities to play. The advantages of walking the 18 as opposed to riding became clearer as well. The time between shots is more natural; the observation of things relating to the current hole and conditions on the upcoming holes is more meaningful and helpful; the distractions, which are an inevitable result of playing one's game so closely integrated with that of one's playing partner, were almost completely gone, save for when the threesome came together on each teeing ground; and, of course, the exercise benifits to the mind and the body if not to the spirit are far greater when walking.
Christopher Morley Golf Course Tuesday, July 22, 2008 Highlights: This was a very special round to celebrate and inaugurate Hank's brand new golf clubs by taking them out for a spin on a familiar course. We agreed that we would just play for kicks and let the clubs work their magic. As it happened, we saw some very good things happen with hanks new sticks. The first 2 holes for Hank were like driving a car with very loose steering; he just wasn't able to fine tune them. Then, he got the feeling and hit bogies on the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th holes. And on the 6th he was shooting at birdie but 3 putted. That must have jarred him to where he blew up on the 300 yard par 4 seventh hole with an 8. But, he got it back together with a bogie on the 8th and then used his nifty new putter to putt one in from off the green for a birdie and a round total of 45, which is his lowest round to date on the Morley nine. Drew kept up his string of better results for the most part but did seem to loose some of his concentration and focus with his interest in how Hank was fairing with his new clubs. He bogied 1, 2 and 4 but triple bogied the 3rd and 5th. He double bogied the 6th and 7th and finally got it together again to par the 8th just coming up short of birdie by a smidge and then bogied the 9th for a round total of 44. There was a light rain from the tee on the 7th to the end of the round that had to be considered, but given the way the game picked up for both Drew and Hank from that point forward, the rain may have helped.
Eisenhower Red Course, East Meadow, NY Saturday, July 12, 2008 Highlights: The Eisenhower Red Course is the course on which is played the Commerce Bank Senior Tour Championship. It features a rough that is really rough, length, though more from the Blue Championship Tees than from the White Tees, but still it is long, some challengingly narrow fairways with some encroaching woods. Don and Drew were up for the test. Though the first hole made a kind of statement causing Drew to post an 8 and Don to take the maximum 10, things got better for both challengers. Don was the only one to make a par, which he did on the 490 yard par 5 3rd hole. He bogied the 5th, 7th and 9th going out and the 11th and 18 coming in. But, when the course fought back it took back his gains in spades. Drew bogied the 3rd, 12th and 16th but was able to double bogie 9 holes where Don double-bogied just 4. They each had their moments with Drew's putting some what more on target. They each scored a round total of 115, which was felt to be a bit of a triumph since neither had played the Red before.
Oyster Bay Golff Course, Woodbury, NY Sunday, June 29, 2008 Highlights: Oyster Bay Town Golf Course is rated 69.0 from the White tees with a 126 Slope and a yardage total of 5,831. It is fairly straight forward with some holes that require threading the needle with very narrow fairways and some threatening and foreboding woods, rough and a few with lateral water hazards. The day was hot but playable and reports of storms that were supposed to find their way to us by late in the round, which came true, but which did not keep us from completing the 18-holes though with some learning experiences with regard to needing a way to dry off the golf club grips before hitting away and taking the change in the greens and terrain in general due to the sudden soaking rains. Drew had gone out to an early lead with a bogie in the first hole and a couple of double bogies while Don was getting his stride. Don bogied 5 and 6 to catch up and when Drew parred the 8th hole Don was one stroke ahead and they remained that way at the turn; 55 to 54. Drew evened up the score on the 10th with another bogie and Don pulled ahead by 2 with a par on the 12th. Getting a par would normally be a rather glorious moment but it was overshadowed by Drew's chip in to save double bogie. Go figure. They traded holes and stayed even through the 16th when, on the 17th Drew bettered Don by 2 strokes to tie the match and they both scored the same on the 18th giving Don a 60 coming in and Drew a 59, which gave them both a 114 total for the round. The last 3 or 4 holes were played in the rain or the remnants of the rain, which had its effect, but did not dampen the feelings that the game was a positive experience for both players.
Eisenhower Blue Course, East Meadow, NY Saturday, June 21, 2008 Highlights: It may be an omen that both score cards got lost to our record keeping. Drew's card got laundered and Don's was left on the golf cart. Don was stalking the 100 mark again this week. He came "this" close. Right on 100. He played so well. Steady, except for the occasional flubbed shot. His putting was not as on as it had been of late and he got stuck in a sand trap or two that had their way with him, but for the most part his game was solid. Drew was getting off the tee this week is much better fashion. He was not hitting far, but he was getting it out there to where he could make better use of his fairway woods and irons. His results at the 18th were particularly memorable getting on with a nice hit with his rescue club to inches off the green and then up and down in 2 from there. He 113 chopped 10 strokes off his last week's round and this on a longer more difficult course over all.
Eisenhower White Course, East Meadow, NY Saturday, June 14, 2008 Highlights: Don was flirting with breaking 100 all game long and his pars on holes 5 and 7 with bogies on holes 2, 3, 4 and 9 on the front nine and a par on 12 and bogies on 14 and 18 on the back nine were what did it for him. He still got to visit parts of Eisenhower Park that few people get to see and that is what kept him from breaking 100. Drew simply could not hit a tee shot and, though his irons were some what better and his putting was in regulation or better except for a 3 putt on holes 14, and 16. He had 14 putts going out and 20 putts coming back. His 123 for the day might have been more disheartening were he not convinced that when he gains control of his driver, which is new to him this season, he should be able to join Don in threatening the 100 mark.
Swan Lake Golf Club, Manorville, NY Saturday, May 31, 2008 Highlights: Swan Lake Golf Club is very nice and well maintained. The promised rain came as we were to tee off on the 17th driving us instead into the club house until the rain stopped after under an hour. We finished the last to holes and called it a day. Steve, who had to work, had Jerry fill in for him. It was a tough day for Jerry, who had been sidelined for a few years and who was struggling to hit it on the sweet spot from beginning to end. There were moments of promise that will bring him back for sure, but it was a less that glorious return to the game though hopefully there was some fun in it for him. Phil and Don battled mightily with only one stroke separating them at the turn and Phil besting Don by but 2 stroke at the end of play; 105 to 107. Phil had a Par on the 3rd and a bogie on 5, 6 and 16. Don bogied 2 and 7 and shot par on 9 and 16, which had to be extremely satisfying. Drew showed Phil a part of his game that he was unable to display last week at Middle Island. His putting in particular was extremely consistent. He only had 4 hole where he putted in more than regulation with 10 holes down in 2 and 4 holes down in 1 put. His puts were set up by much better iron play in his approaches to the greens. He hit a bogie on 5 and a par on 13 giving him a 60 at the turn and a 59 on the back 9 for a 119 total.
Middle Island Country Club, Middle Island, NY Saturday, May 24, 2008 Highlights: Middle Island Country Club is undergoing a make over. The entire Spruce, or the West Course, is being worked on and promises to be a fabulous golfing experience in the near future. We played from Dogwood, the South Course, to Oak Tree, the Northeast Course, and used gas golf carts to introduce the course to Drew and to welcome back Don, Steve and Phil, who had time on this course some years back. Phil was playing his first round since his heart operation nearly two years ago. It seems he has not lost much since he shot the low score of the day, a 113. He had a nice par on Hole 3 and a bogie on 6 of Dogwood and bogies on holes 1, 4 and 7of Oak Tree. Steve was right on his tale with a 114 overall score with bogies on 6 going out and on holes 4, 5, and 7 coming in. Don had a left tendency going out but managed to bogie holes 5 and 6 going out but struggled the rest of the way around for a total of 122 over all. Drew flubbed more tee shots than he would care to remember on Dogwood but managed to get a bogie on holes 3 and 6 for 64 going out. His return leg began in a similar way but then he chipped in for par on the Oak Tree 5th hole hit double bogie on 6 and 7 and bogie on 8 and 9 for a 55 total for that 9 and a grand total of 119 for the day. He will not forget the chip in and it cemented his commitment to his ides to have golf greens surrounded by wireless video cams to capture such moments for golfers to enjoy forever.
The Hamlet Golf and Country Club, Commack, NY Monday, August 6, 2007 Highlights: This round of golf was played in favor and support of the good works of the American Kidney Fund. Drew serves as a Vice Chairperson of the Fund's Northeast Regional Council. Some 90 plus golfers played on what promised to be a story day, but which turned out to be a very nice day weather-wise. The good fellowship among the players was exemplified by that experienced among the threesome of Don, Drew and Ron. Ron was playing his very first round of golf with a set of borrowed clubs and new golf duds (he look pretty swell too) and used mostly the 5-iron all through the day, which served him quite well. The best ball format takes the best individual score on each hole and adds it as part of the team's aggregate. Our team scored a 99 for the round. We have highlighted the best-ball scores on each hole. Where two players scored the same, we highlighted both their scores. Ron, the absolute newcomer, contributed 8 of the best ball scores, so much for beginner's luck. He scored a par 3 on the 165 yard 4th hole a bogie on the 5th hole and consistently showed the advantages of good iron play. Don had the low score by one stroke; 112, and that coming by way of visiting virtually every hill on the entire course. Don parred the 8th and the 11th holes and contributed to ten of the best ball scores. Drew's total of 113 was the result of some unusually long ball strikes, some nifty chipping and some moderately good putting. His best ball scores totaled 9. We all enjoyed the round and relished in the lunch that was served at all the right moments.
Butternut Farm Golf Club, Stow, MA Saturday, July 7, 2007 Highlights: Drew was pleased to return to the rustic and well cared for Butternut Farms Golf Club with now completed club house where dozens of weddings and other festive celebrations are held during the year. Malcolm gets to play Butternut more often, being a local to the area, and he always serves as a leader of the way as to the ins and outs of the always challenging course. Malcolm’s round of 89 was dotted with 5 pars and a spectacular chip-in birdie on the par 3 fourth hole. Drew struggled to get the ball off the T most of the round and lived a good deal of the time in the woods. But, he did have his moments four bogies and with a nice par on the eleventh hole. His round of 112 had some nice putting folded into it and a number of trees that some how got in the way.
Bethpage State Park Golf Course - Blue Golf Course Saturday, June 30, 2007 Highlights: As well as we have been playing on other courses, we were brought up sharply by the Blue Course at Bethpage. It must have been a combination of the hills, the rougher rough, the longer hole lengths, the challenging design and that we are used to a milder gentler golfing experience. Tough there are no water hazards, there were still many an area that placed before us a valley, gulch or swale that required that we cross them all as well and completely as if there had been a body of water stretched out before us. To fail to make the valley is to then require a shot or even a series of shots that will require a tough up hill grind and trajectory. To miss both short and either right or left is to then be faced with punishing undergrowths, steadfast trees and daunting bunkers or outright unplayable lies. All this added up to stroke upon stroke whether actually taken or marked down due to penalties. Both Don and Drew struggled from the get go. Don finally got on track with bogies at 8 and 9. Drew had four double bogies on the front nine each of which were either threatening to be bogies or pars with his putting being in the "so-close-but-yet-so-far" category. We left after the 15th hole due to the slowness of play and found the back 9 to be significantly more hospitable with Drew scoring 3 bogies, one of which was nearly a par had that put not missed by just that much, and Don scoring 2 bogies. The course record of 65 is still intact.
Eisenhower Blue Course Saturday, June 23, 2007 Highlights:The first 18-hole round for the season is back at the Eisenhower Blue, which was in very good shape even if it was some what truncated and overlooked in favor of the famous Red course, which would be the field of play for the Commerce Bank Open Senior Tour Event that coming week. It was a day of feast or famine. It seemed that both Don and Drew would either do very well on a hole or blow up completely on that hole. Don enjoyed a Par and 6 bogies and struggled on many of the other holes for a total of 108. . Drew parred the 3rd, 6th and 11th holes a par 4 and two par 5's with some very good golf shots, but save for three bogies he also struggled and totaled a 117. It was hot; we walked where we usually would ride and Drew, for one, skipped lunch, which for him is not a good idea. But, there was a lot of learning going on and the good shots were harbingers of more such shots as we go forward.
Heartland Golf Park Saturday, June 9, 2007 Highlights: Don could lead the way on this unusual golfing experience as he had played Heartland before. Just a small amount of imagination allowed us to feel as if we were standing on and playing these famous Par 3 holes from 9 of the most exclusive courses on the planet. Neither of us really blew up on any one hole never exceeding triple boggie. And, we each enjoyed making a Par.
Sunken Meadow State Park - Green Course Sunday, October 26, 2006 Highlights: Drew and Hank were joined by Al and picked up Lou who plays the Sunken Meadow courses often to round out their foursome for the day. The course was in very nice shape. Lou led the way and was he only one of the group to score a par, which he did on the tough hole number 7. Drew having, trouble with his putter on the first few hole and his irons on the last few hole and with his woods on some of the in between holes, resulting in a 64 for the round. Al had a bogie on the 2nd and struggled to stay under 60 with a 58 by round's end. Hank said, "I like the course, but I hate the course”, which summed up his round. He had some brilliant moments that make him feel his future is on the long courses, because now he can really hit without holding back.
Sunken Meadow State Park - Blue to Red Courses Sunday, October 22, 2006 Highlights: Don and Drew were joined by Norman and his brother-in-law Howie at Sunken Meadow to play the Blue through the Red courses. (By the way, see Drew's Review of the Sunken Meadow Blue Course on GolfLink.com).
Sunken Meadow State Park - Blue Course Sunday, October 16, 2006 Highlights: Don and Drew ventured out to Sunken Meadow State Park on a beautiful crisp fall day with leaves turning color. Drew started off well with a par on 1 and 3 and bogie on 4 and 5. He finished with a 54 for the round 6 ahead of Don who struggled on the greens with his putter, which did not behave as it usually does.
Eisenhower Blue Course Saturday, September 30, 2006 Highlights: Don played well. Drew could hardly see the ball on the tee. He kept miss-hitting it, ecept for sometimes. Don had 3 pars on 1, 15 and 18 with bogies on 3, 7, 8, 12 and 17 for a round of 106. Not his best, but in there. Drew bogied the 8th and the 17th and struggled the rest of the day.
Eisenhower Blue Course Saturday, September 9, 2006 Highlights: Don and Drew joined up at Eisenhower Park with Mike and his wife Meesu who apparently enjoy playing on this Robert Trent Jones designed course on a regular basis. Don parred the 1st, 4th and 17th holes and hit some excellent shots, but Drew was able to keep the score close and actually held the lead from the 8th through the 16th hole, when Don pointed out that a 3 stroke lead would be hard for him to over come. Drew said, “There are lots of holes to go and you never know what can happen”, which is surely where he lost it. Don won one stroke back on the 16th and then proceeded to par the 3-par 118 yard 17th, which allowed him to make back the two remaining strokes he had been down and go up one on Drew who triple boggied it. Though Don had a rough finish on the 18th with a double bogie, Drew had an even rougher one, even with a nice shot here and there he triple-boggied the 18th putting Don 2 strokes up at the finish. Drew will be fitted with new choke-resistant underwear before their next golf outing.
Eisenhower Blue Course Saturday, September 16, 2006 Highlights: Don and Drew joined up with two brothers from Great Neck and North Hills for a round played on the morning after a soaking rain the day and night before and with Drew still feeling the effects of a bad cold. The weather was fine and though the course was feeling the effects of the deep wetness, it was in good condition with a lushness that made the rough rougher and the fairway heavy with water such that divots seemed to weigh a ton, which may have had an effect on shot results. The greens, which had been aerated last week had grown back to a degree and were not as "sandy" as they had been, but the putting surface still gave the ball a bumpy ride. Though Drew had the only par on the front nine, on the 8th hole, Don posted bogies on the 7th and 9th and kept his hole totals even with or better than Drew's on every other hole than the 8th giving him an 8 stroke lead at the turn. Drew kept loosing one or two per hole through the 13th when Don shot par on the 296 yard par 4. They stayed even on the 14th when Drew hit a long put to tie Don's triple bogie 7. That little positive result must have given Drew a lift. He pared the 172 yard 15th bettering Don's bogie 4 and then posted a 7 on the toughest hole on the course, the 16th, a 387 dog leg right hole that took its toll on Don's big lead to the toll of 2 more strokes for a total of 13 down from a high of 16 strokes. The 17th hoe, a par 3, is only 129 yards from tee to green, so most use 5 iron or shorter to clear the two large traps in front of the flag. Drew hit 3 iron to about 8 feet from the pin and, after the others outside his lie putted closer, he putted his ball on a fairly smooth route with just a slight bend to the left at the end directly into the cup for a birdie 2, which reduces the deficit to 11 stroke. Don fought back and got his fifth bogie for the back 9 on the par 5 finishing hole giving him a total of 8 bogies and one par for the round and total of 105 for round, 5 strokes better than his effort last week and 12 strokes better than Drew's total of 117 for the day. There were a lot of "come back" shots for both players; meaning "they're coming back for more golf on the Eisenhower Blue Course.
